Grimaldi Lines starts new ro-pax service in the Mediterranean Sea

Ro-pax liner service of the Grimaldi Lines shipping company links northern Italy to central Spain and Morocco

 

Grimaldi Lines shipping company (Naples) is implementing the planned expansion of its Mediterranean route network. On 20 November the maiden journey on the route from Livorno to Valencia and Tanger in Spain will start. A ro-pax ferry serves this route in a weekly frequency. At a presentation in Vienna Paul Kyprianou, Manager Research and External Relations Department, referred to the service as the only ferry connection from northern Italy to central Spain and Morocco.

Grimaldi Lines is like the shipping companies APL, Finnlines and Minoan Lines a subsidiary of the Grimaldi Group headquartered in Naples. The private Italian transport and logistics group operates a fleet of 100 vessels, of which 75 units are designed as car carriers or ro-ro carriers and 25 of them as ro-pax carriers. In the year 2009 2.49 million vehicles and 1.31 million FEU (40 ft. equivalent) were transported in the form of trailers and containers. Grimaldi Group employs around 8,000 persons worldwide. Last year they posted a turnover of EUR 2.1 billion and a net profit of EUR 120 million.
